Rainbow’s End

Stellenbosch, Banghoek Valley

The promise of Rainbow’s End is in its fertility and climate. Situated on high-lying slopes, rising to 540m above sea level, the estate backs on to the Jonkershoek Mountain and overlooks the prized and productive Banghoek basin, which is encircled by mountains.  The name that conjures up associations, and among these are the promise of sunshine after rain, of commitment to the earth, of a destination, and a pot of gold.

Blanc de Noir Cabernet Franc 2023

The nose is vibrant with aromas of white flowers and freshly sliced apples. The flavours are bright and linger with fresh fruit and hints of ruby grapefruit. The wine is well balanced, dry with a refreshing yet subtle acidity and a hint of mineralitiy.

Cabernet Franc 2022

Intense, dark purple colour. Black cherry, earthy, sweet and red pepper with hints of sage, thyme and sofrito. Lovely fresh, mineralic and some graphite character shown from the clone 214.

Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Dark purple in colour. Cassis and mulberries on the nose with perfume of Cedar wood from the oaking. Silky smooth tannins with blackberry cassis and dark plums on the palate and a lingering finish.

Merlot 2020

Dark deep crimson colour. Aromas of blueberries, ripe. Full velvety mouth feel with hints of berry compote, mulberries and ripe plums. This is a well structured wine with rounded tannins balancing out opulent fruit and a long lingering finish.

2020 Family Reserve

Aromas of dark cherry, black plum and cassis followed by a touch of of sage, mint and thyme. Full bodied, the pallet offers layers of complexity with soft spice, dark fruit ending with a lingering minty mulberry finish. Soft well balanced tannins.
