Rainbow’s End

Stellenbosch: Banghoek

The promise of Rainbow’s End is in its fertility and climate. Situated on high-lying slopes, rising to 540m above sea level, the estate backs on to the Jonkershoek Mountain and overlooks the prized and productive Banghoek basin, which is encircled by mountains.  The name that conjures up associations, and among these are the promise of sunshine after rain, of commitment to the earth, of a destination, and a pot of gold.

Cabernet Franc 2017

Intense deep red, colour. vegetal and herbaceous aromas with mineral and slight floral after tones (violets and fynbos) Rich earthy and tea leaf flavours with dark black berries and cherries. Intense rich fruit and juicy palate, with layers of dark chocolate and a hint of cedar.

Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Dark purple in colour. The wine offers aromas of black raspberries and cassis with minty green nuances of sage and bell pepper and a touch of dark chocolate. The pallet offers focussed red fruit with dark plum and a touch of mint ending with an elegant lingering finish.

Merlot 2018

Dark deep crimson colour. Aromas of blueberries, ripe plums, and a faint spiciness towards the end. A full velvety mouth feel with hints of berry compote, mulberries, and ripe plums. This is a well-structured wine with rounded tannins balancing out opulent fruit and a long lingering finish.

Cabernet Franc 2019 - Limited Release -

A barrel selection with slightly more oak than its sibling (the Cabernet Franc 2018). Deep red in color. Licorice and cherries on the nose. Ripe red fruit with gentle blue/black fruit with hints of herbs and spice on the pallet. This wine has a rich mouth feel and a lingering finish. A seductive and deceptively subtle wine. One of the best expressions of Cabernet Franc from South Africa.

Cabernet France Rose - 2021

Rainbow’s End is an acclaimed producer of quality single varietal Cabernet Franc since 2005. Cabernet Franc demonstrates a particular aptitude for making exquisite Rosé wines. This maiden vintage Cabernet Franc Rosé is made from a selected block of grapes from the estate, harvested for optimal clarity and quality.
