Deux Frères

Stellenbosch

Stellenbosch’s smallest vineyard.  This boutique vineyard is situated on the bank of a natural dry run/wetland on the westerly slope of the Simonsberg Mountain in Stellenbosch.  Founded in 2008 to continue the heritage of the du Toit wine family.

A family owned and run vineyard, their philosophy is that nature and geography, or the terroir, make the wine, so there is minimal intervention within the cellar.  The winemaker, Stephan, is a traditional vigneron, driven by taste and intuition built on the values of responsibility, integrity, industry, individuality, and uncompromising quality.

Deux Frères produces just 3 000 cases of Bordeaux and Rhone blends.

Mourvèdre 2017

This wine was matured in 500 liter old French oak barrels for 3 years and displays a deep & dense, dark-fruit plums and maraschino cherries aromas on the nose, that follow through to a full bodied palate with a foundation of compact soft tannins for definition. This is a delicious wine.

Fraternite 2015

A Rhone-styled blend of Shiraz (70%) and Mourvèdre (30%), this wine was matured in 225 liter French & American oak barrels for a period of 15-months. It has beautiful aromas of dried prunes and apricots with some hints of mushroom and forest floor. The American oak backs the wine with some “sweetness” of black cherries and vanilla. The palate is opulent with ripe, soft tannins, and good acidic balance.
