Winemakers Selection Lynchpin 2019

Cloof’s premium range of wines that reflect the artistry and expertise of our master winemaker that selects the wine after a stringent block and barrel selection. A Lynchpin relates to the cornerstone that holds the various elements of a complicated structure in together. In this unfiltered blend, the Lynchpin is an unfiltered Cabernet Franc (51%) supported by a rich Merlot (30%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (19%). The wine is polished and poised with violet perfume, a defined structure, and provides an explosion of blackberries and dark cherries supported by well-integrated French oak. This wine is excellent with beef (steak), lamb, grilled veal, and turkey. It is also a great match with couscous, tandoori spices, bean dishes and hearty stews.

Inkspot 2018

Within Cloof’s “The Signature Range”, the Inkspot is a soft, juicy, and approachable Cape Red blend of Pinotage (36%), Shiraz (31%), Cabernet Sauvignon (22%), and Merlot (11%). A powerful and inky concentration with a tightly woven structure and perfect balance. Strawberries and plums with a hint of spices and smokiness due to barrel fermentation and maturation. This blend with soft ripe tannins and red fruit flavors evolves into a well-rounded finish. Enjoyed with rosemary marinated lamb shank or cold meat platter and grilled goat’s cheese salad.

Matured in French oak barrels for 12-months, this full-bodied wine is silky, yet structured, and has soft ripe tannins and a fruit, dry finish. Enjoyed best with the big flavors of brisket, stews, lamb, venison, or roast duck in a plum sauce.
